Abortion Pill
The Abortion Pill is available to women up to 11 weeks (77 days) from their last period. It is a great option that can be used in the comfort of your own home. This is comparable to a miscarriage. Bleeding and cramping is normal. We prescribe a medication so that patients are comfortable during this miscarriage process. Our patients overwhelmingly tell us that it was a very positive experience that felt natural and comfortable. Our healthcare team is trained to ensure that you are well-prepared for the process and have the information that you need.
Generous funding for your abortion is available to assist with the cost of the pill. We also offer free abortion consultations.
The Process
- In The Office
The patient takes their first pill, Mifepristone, orally at our office. Nothing should occur until the next step. - In Your Home
In the privacy of your own home, 24 or 48 hours later, the patient will insert four tablets of Misoprostol between the cheek and gums of their mouth. Within the next few hours, the patient will experience bleeding (light to heavy) and some cramping which is the miscarriage. Patients often choose to make arrangements for childcare and schedule the day off from work. - Follow-Up
All patients should return to Our Center for a follow-up visit within 14 days so that we can confirm that the process is complete.
Patients often choose the abortion pill option because they feel it is a more natural process and appreciate that they are able to be in their own homes with family or friends (if they so choose). Choosing the pill will minimize your time in our office and allows you to avoid surgery.
