The Abortion Pill, also known as a medication abortion, is available to those up to six weeks from their last period. It is a great alternative to the in-office, surgical abortion procedure.
First Trimester Abortion
This procedure, often called a Dilation and Curettage (D&C), involves removing the pregnancy from the uterus through natural openings under local or general anesthesia. This is available to all patients who are eligible for an abortion in the state of Florida. A first-trimester abortion procedure is available to those up to 6 weeks from their last menstrual period (LMP).
Second Trimester Abortion
This procedure, often called a Dilation and Evacuation (D&E), involves dilation of the cervix and removal of the pregnancy using suction and/or forceps. It can be done under local or general anesthesia. A second-trimester abortion procedure is available to those who meet the criteria as outlined by the State of Florida.
